David Roberts has been at the forefront of British ceramics for nearly 30 years. He writes about his work and inspiration: ‘Disentangling the threads in my work, the central ‘leit-motiv’ of which is the vessel, reveals the potential of the pot, formed from a taut skin of clay, to hold, carry and imply layers of meanings and references. Its abstract nature carries a degree of ambiguity that enables viewers to bring their own perceptions and interpretations to the experience of looking.’ |

Emma’s work is all about capturing the moment, freezing a fleeting instant, a pose, a look, a reaction that holds and communicates the character and behaviour of an animal or person. This is only possible from deep observation and understanding: ‘I am mainly drawn to agile animals as I am fascinated with the distortion of form through energetic movement, from compact masses to taut outstretched limbs filled with energy.’ |
